Best Wishes for 2021 from EAA board
On behalf of all the EAA board and on my behalf, I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and all the best for the New year.
2020 was a very “special year” but finally we were able to run Forum Acusticum online with more than a thousand participants thank to the continuous effort and the perseverance of all the organising team.
At this occasion, the EAA awards were given “virtually to the following recipients:
- Eddy Gerretsen: Life-time achievements in acoustics for his contribution to Building Acoustics, (TNO, Eindhoven University of Technology)
- Murray Campbel: Life-time achievements in acoustics for his contribution to Musical Acoustics (University of Edinburgh)
- HEAD-Genuit-Foundation: Contributions to the promotion of acoustics in Europe (Represented by Klaus Genuit)
Several challenges are now to be faced for 2021, among them (and according to the recent General Assembly decisions):
- Consolidating our open Journal, Acta Acustica and its twin Journal, Acoustics in Practice
- Attracting as many Sustaining Member as possible, with your help
- Building up our European digital repository, Documenta Acustica Electronica
- Setting up a new Mentoring system and Assistant to Product managers together with YAN
- Activate and boost our Technical Committees.
In 2021, the EAA will count one more Member Country, the Republic of Ireland. AACI will join the EAA as an associate Member.
Let’s remain positive and hope that the sanitary situation will improve and that we will be able to meet “for real” in one of our future Conferences:
EURONOISE 2021 and Ancient theatres 2021
Best wishes
Prof. Manell ZAKHARIA
President of the European Acoustics Association
